Cost Effective Online business Advertising

The realities are that the online community is more affluent and better educated than the population as a whole and they are willing to spend money online. The question is how do you attract them to your product or service?

As the economy struggles advertising dollars are being reduced. This opens up some opportunities for the small business and its ability to use online advertising. With some research you can locate the high traffic sites that will deliver your ad to your target market, selling ad space at fairly discounted rates. The key is to find sites that offer a service or product that compliments yours and then investigate their advertising opportunities.

One of the benefits of advertising on the internet is it allows you to track how many people responded, unlike television, radio or print advertising. Typically the response is similar to direct mail ranging from less than one to three percent.

Specifically I am referring to banner ads. I know all the hype is banner ads don’t work. But they will work, be cost effective and targeted if you follow some simple guidelines.

1. Who is your customer? Don’t just place banner ads anywhere, select those sites that cater to your target customer. Studies show that Internet users have short attention spans. You want to put your banner in a place where someone is already looking for information related to your product or service. For instance, if you sell flea collars, don’t blow your budget on a general rotation on Yahoo! It may get you exposure, but it won’t get you sales. Instead, find a site devoted to pets that has more targeted audience for you product.

2. Remember those short attention spans? Make your banner attractive, enticing so that the surfer will want to see more. If you are going to invest money in your advertising this is where you should invest. Hire a graphics designer to design your ad copy. Remember you only have seconds to pique their interest.

3. Never do any advertising that can’t be measured. Make sure you can measure the number of click-throughs generated by your ads. Most online advertising companies have software that allows you to track your results. Don’t continue to do the same thing if it is not working. Try and figure out why certain ads perform better than others. Use this information to improve your campaign, and generate more sales.

4. Finally, when the potential new sale does click-through to your web site make sure the information they are looking for is easy to find. If they have to search too hard they will hit that back button. What I mean by that is create specific landing pages for each product that you advertising online.

What could be more powerful, the interested customers can click, learn more and actually buy on the spot.

How to have Fun while increasing Your Profits - Small Business Help

Laughter and fun can improve your health. Make it a habit to have some fun and encourage others to join in.

When was the last time you had fun? Do you make it a practice to have fun while you work? If you don’t have fun while you work I’ll bet your customers and clients are very  well aware of that. Let me introduce you a innovative business technique to increase your profits.

A few months ago I read the book Fish by Stephen C. Lundin, Ph.D., Harry Paul and John Christensen, a short hour read that offers a lot. The parable uses the real life employees of the Seattle’s Pike Place Fish Market to tell a simple story with a big impact. The employees at Pike Place Fish Market have learned how to have fun and involve their customers on a daily basis. I believe if they can have fun while handling dead fish all day, the rest of us have no excuse. The moral to the story is having fun while you work will improve morale and improve results. On a side note; if you ever have an opportunity to see the live video of the Pike Place Fish Market don’t pass it up, it is worth the time to watch.

The point is life is too short and we spend much too much time working to not have fun while we are. Not only that it will help you do your daily business tasks more efficiently, In addition, laughter and fun can improve your health.

According to a Loma Linda University study, thirty minutes after 20 medical students laughed through a video of a well-known comedian, their disease-fighting white blood cells increased by 25 percent. And William F. Fry, M.D., a professor of psychiatry at Stanford University Medical School says laughter also stimulates the brain, ventilates lungs, and raises heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, and circulation. That’s why 100 laughs a day, the average for adults, is equivalent to the physical benefits you get from riding a stationary bike for 15 minutes or spending 10 minutes on the rowing machine. Would you find these compelling enough reasons to explore, encourage and implement fun in your work environment.

The keys to create an innovative and fun work environment according to Fish are:

Choose your attitude. We always have a choice about our attitude and how we let the environment around us to interfere. You can choose to make this a great day.

Find ways to Play. We can be serious about our work without taking ourselves to serious. Find ways to add play to your work.

Be present. Staying focused so that you are present when customers and team members need you.

Make their day. Should you find your energy lapsing find someone who needs a helping hand, a word of support or a good ear – and make their day.

Making your workplace (or small business setup) fun applies to the work from home office worker as well as the employees of a large corporation. Don’t rely on someone else to add fun to your day or others. Take on the task for initiating the fun, your customers, clients and co-workers will benefit from your positive happy attitude. Additionally, your family and friends will benefit from the fact that you have reduced the stress you carry with you throughout your day and into your evening, making you a more pleasant person to be with at all times.
